Poetry

Here are some poems I have written in honor of some of the signs. The collection is not complete - I guess I have some more writing to do! I hope my Muse visits me again soon.

Gemini

The twins, two born of one,

The Yin and the Yang,

Opposing and completing one another.

Restless energy

searching

inquisitive, curious, playful,

adaptable, versatile

Jack of All Trades

Master of None,

Grasping all experience,

Spreading out in all directions

Communicating, Teaching, Learning,

Travelling in space or mind

on the wings of Mercury.

Variety - the Spice of Life:

Friends, Excitement, Joie de Vivre -

High on Ideas,

The Conscious Intellectual.

Two In One Double The Fun.

A Cancer Poem

Sub-Conscious Lunar light

Seep into my soul

Through the pineal portal

of my mind's eye.

Open up the Sister

to my mental Man In The Moon.

From to Crescent to Sphere

Wax me -

Til I shine

with my own Luminescence

Harvest

When August culminates what May begun,

Sunflowers reaching toward their source, the Sun,

And humid haze hangs still above the fields

And harvest to perfection at last yields,

Then Vestal Virgins, Keepers of the Flame,

Encircled by golden auras of the same,

Amid the yellow sunshine radiance

Come make a dancing of their ambiance.

Praising Ceres, baskets overflowing,

They celebrate the gathering and knowing

What they produce below is from above,

They reap the land they labored o'er with love.

Attuned to rhythmic cycles of the seasons,

They've gone beyond looking for life's reasons.

And dwelling bodily in simplicity

Have blossomed their minds limitless and free.

The travelling of their hearts and minds and souls

Transports them far beyond their dales and knolls,

And though their bodies stay upon the plain,

Forever in the Nagual they remain.

A meditation of their work they've made

With Shakti and with Shiva they have played

Now to their fruition they have come

And in heaven they have made their home.

This poem is for Virgo and concerns perfecting oneself through spiritual pursuit. Ceres is the goddess of grains (think of cereal) as well as a dwarf planet in astrology that is associated with Virgo. The reference to the Nagual is from Carlos Castenada's work with the Mexican Yaqui Indian, Don Juan. The Nagual is a spiritual state for which we have no suitable translation. Shakti and Shiva are Hindu gods.

A LIBRAN DANCE

Janet Booth

Lots and lots of lovely Librans

lying lazily on the lawn,

Slowly sensing the sun's descending

soaking up the last of Her rays,

Hibernating through the long night,

awaiting to greet again the Dawn,

Following Sol through the sky transcending,

learning to balance the dark with the days,

Learning to balance the yang with the yin,

what is without with what is within.

Striving for Harmony, Peace, Trust and Love

by bringing below what is above.

The Archer

Gazing high, his bowstring drawn,

The Archer takes his aim,

To pierce the veil of ignorance

With wisdom is his game

The flame upon his arrow

Spreads light throughout the dark

With Jupiter's direction, It goes right to the riiark

Half man, half beast, and partly god,

A combination not so odd

Spirit prancing in the flesh,

Is the Centaur, Sagittarius.

SWIMMING (In The Sea of Life)

Janet Booth

Neptune, wisened old man of the sea,

Do you see you are connected to me?

A1ma Mater's the ocean--we're of the same school

Chasing our tails, Playing The Fool.

Through seasonal cycles, both up- and down-stream

Like lemmings, we follow the call of The Dream.

Reflective of spirit, we circle around,

Learning to swim only to drown

Only to rise again up to the sky,

To turn into raindrops and down again fly.

A Poem For Pisces Inspired by Jophra's painting for Pisces 3/13/81
