IT SAID, I SAID
"Artificial intelligence" may be intelligent, but it is
definitely artificial." Janet Booth
HERE ARE EXCERPTS OF WHAT A COMPUTER REPORT SAID ABOUT MY CLIENT AND
WHAT I DISCUSSED WITH HER.
(In reading this, you may want to refer to the keywords for the planets,
signs and houses in my Astrologer's Apprentice Cheat
Sheet.)
IT SAID:
BALANCE OF ELEMENTS
Scores: Fire 8; Earth 0; Air 3; Water 12 EARTH WEAK
You have difficulty coping with the realities of every day life. Practical
daily chores seem beyond your capabilities, and you have difficulty concentrating
on matters at hand.
I noticed she had no planets in earth signs and also no planets in
the angular houses (the four main power points of the chart, signaling
one's orientation to the "here and now'). This indicated a difficulty
remaining "in the present moment." The computer report didn't even
calculate or discuss the three types of houses and any imbalance in
the planets' distribution among them.
I SAID:
My first question to this client was, "What do you do to ground yourself
and stay in the present?" This was a simple enough question but led
to a long exploration of a basic lack in her life. She realized she
didn't have enough grounding, looked back at a period when she had
been better grounded, and decided to return to some of the activities
she used to do that kept her in better balance.
IT SAID:
BALANCE OF QUADRANTS
Scores: 1st Quadrant 3; 2nd Quadrant 14; 3rd Quadrant 0; 4th Quadrant
0 2ND QUADRANT STRONG
You are receptive to other people and sensitive to the undercurrents involved
in relationships. You are an impulsive person, always looking for new
opportunities to express your ideas. You react from your own subjective
viewpoint. You enjoy starting new projects.
I SAID:
You live your life very much inside yourself but greatly impacted
by others and things outside of yourself. It's difficult for you to
have an impact on other people, but you're always affected by them.
The stories she told and comments she made indicated she was more re-active
than pro-active. By my pointing this out, she determined to try to take
more of a leadership role in her own life, not to settle for what was
happening to her but to try to make things happen.
IT SAID:
SCORPIO ON 6TH HOUSE CUSP
Your daily life is approached with intensity. You may be a compulsive
worker, or health fanatic. CAPRICORN ON 7TH HOUSE CUSP You prefer to have
committed personal relationships. You like to command the respect of your
loved ones, and need a partner who you can respect. You may choose a partner
who is older.
For those of you familiar with the order of the zodiac signs, something
looks funny here, doesn't it? The houses seem to skip from Scorpio right
over Sagittarius to Capricorn. Actually, Sagittarius is "swallowed up"
in the 6th House, or what astrologers call "intercepted." This computer
report didn't discuss interceptions at all. My client didn't recall
her prior readings explaining these to her. My in-depth examination
of her chart showed an important key to how my client approaches her
work and jobs. (There was much more to it than this, but like I said
above, this is just an excerpt.)
She had always thought of her 6th House Sagittarius planets as meaning
she should find joy in her work and that she should work in a university
setting. And she wondered why she had had such difficulty achieving
that. While those are valid interpretations of a 6th House Sagittarius
influence, with the interceptions in mind, I had a different spin on
it.
I SAID:
There's more to your 6th House than Sagittarius. A house is like
a stage to act upon and the cusps (dividing lines between the houses)
are like stage entrances or doorways. You have no doorway into the
Sagittarius part of your 6th House. You have to enter that arena through
the Scorpio door. So work is intense, at least at first, not light-hearted,
or maybe it gets that way later. Work is an area that puts you through
changes and requires transformation. It's a heavily emotionally charged
matter. And once you pass through that Scorpio doorway, you can proceed
to the Sagittarius ideals, and where you're going in the end, is to
Capricorn, at the stage exit. You come out of your Scorpio ordeals
and Sagittarius triumphs with respect and accomplishment (Capricorn),
and that leads to right relationships (Capricorn at the 7th House
of relationships). As you mature, you're less likely to get caught
in the traps of the negative sides of Scorpio (self-destruction, revenge,
jealousy) and more likely to adopt the Sagittarius traits (philosophical
and humorous perspective, wisdom, flexibility).
My client has Saturn very close to ("conjunct") her Sun and both are
at right angles ("square") to her Jupiter and Pluto, which form another
duo. A computer report pulls these patterns apart into pieces but doesn't
put them back together again. These planets and their interactions are
at the heart of her greatest challenges.
Furthermore, I interpret a special point in a chart called the Vertex,
which is related to seemingly "fated" connections with people or events
that are beyond our control (being in the right place at the right time,
meeting someone who changes your life, etc.). It happens that this client
has her Vertex right between her Sun and Saturn, which are very close
already.
She later said she had had readings with other astrologers but none
had ever explained her Sun-Saturn conjunction to her as well as I did.
In addition, she is versed in astrology herself. She had always viewed
her Sun-Saturn conjunction as some kind of karmic punishment for misdeeds
in a past life and a real limiting factor in her life.
First I'll tell you what we talked about. Then if you want, you can
read the computer's fragmentation further below.
I SAID:
Saturn can help make up for having no planets in the earth element
(see above). Its sturdy earthy influence can help you be practical
and self-disciplined. With Saturn conjunct the Sun, your mission in
this life is to learn self-respect and responsibility for yourself.
You have a "cosmic appointment" (Vertex) to be your own: approver,
boss, authority, "elder."
We went on to talk about the importance of 5th House matters for her
and how she really needed a creative outlet. Currently she had none
and was in a pretty blocked space. Although she had done a lot of artsy
things in her past, she had gotten away from them. Our discussion renewed
her enthusiasm for the activities that make her happy.
I SAID:
The square from the Sun and Saturn to Jupiter and Pluto in the 3rd
House can help you, too. Squares kick us into action. Though they
can bring difficulties, those make us stronger. Pluto, the planet
of transformation, in your 3rd House of thinking, says you can change
the way you think. With Jupiter there, it says you can do this in
a big way, or that it will lead to growth. You have the power over
what tapes you play yourself in your head. What you can conceive,
you can achieve.
She then told me she was at that very moment very steeped in the Louise
Hay affirmations approach to changing her life. That was perfect with
her chart! I love when clients are already on their path and my readings
can provide confirmation of their decisions and actions.
I SAID:
The 3rd House signifies siblings - how are your relationships with
any siblings?
She reported that she always stifled her own abilities in order not
to "outshine" her older sister.
I SAID:
Your 5th House Sun is very creative but that Saturn can be restricting.
Sometimes a person's words are so telling. Shining goes with the Sun
and yours has been inhibited by Saturn's influence, but you knowingly
imposed that barrier on yourself, so you also have the power to lift
it off yourself.
When she said her sister is manipulative, I pointed out that is shown
by Pluto and exaggerated by Jupiter. Again, I encouraged her to adjust
her viewpoint and do what was best for herself, not for her sister.
Here is how the computer laid out those pieces of her chart. The interpretations
are not incorrect, just incomplete. They don't even tell her she has two
important pairs in conflict with each other. "Artificial intelligence"
may be intelligent but it is definitely artificial.
IT SAID:
THE SUN IN SCORPIO You are a passionate and intense individual.
You may gain attention through creating dramatic situations. You may also
be secretive.
THE SUN IN THE 5TH HOUSE You express yourself through fun and
creativity. You like to play. Your urge to learn about yourself through
creative projects is strong. Children may also be important in your life.
ASPECTS OF THE SUN SQUARE JUPITER Orb 7° 02' Applying You
have an overly optimistic and idealistic approach to life. You are prone
to excessive behavior and can be egotistical. Positively, you have the
ability to reach your goals.
CONJUNCTION SATURN Orb 0°50' Applying You are responsible, serious
and reliable. You may have had a stricter father than the other children.
Work and a career will be important to you. You have the self-discipline
to succeed.
SQUARE PLUTO Orb 5°42' Applying You are an explosive and unpredictable
person who has trouble controlling your emotions. You are powerful and
good at rising to challenges. You need to learn to compromise.
JUPITER IN LEO You are benevolent, generous and fun loving. You
are on an enthusiastic search for creative expression. You may also have
a love of children.
JUPITER IN THE 3RD HOUSE You are a great thinker and talker. You
seek ever-increasing communication networks and inspire others through
your insight. You are always seeking to expand your mind.
ASPECTS OF JUPITER SQUARE SATURN Orb 6°12' Applying You have a
poor idea of your own abilities and tend to put yourself down. Don't compare
yourself to others. Believe in your own abilities. Do not expect recognition
from others. Work to reward yourself.
CONJUNCTION PLUTO Orb 1°20' Separating You have the enthusiasm
to live life to the fullest. What you do, you do in a big way. Keep your
ego under control and you will achieve much and be a great leader.
SATURN
SATURN IN SCORPIO You have an intense commitment to work and joint
enterprises. You are a resourceful and determined worker.
SATURN IN THE 5TH HOUSE You may have experienced a lack of fun
felt early in life, resulting in a reticence to relax or play later in
life. You will find that structuring your creative work and recreation
time is your best approach.
ASPECTS OF SATURN SQUARE PLUTO Orb 4°52' Applying You have difficulty
accepting your faults, which you see as weaknesses. This is because you
are spurred to ambition by your need for security. Once you learn to accept
your own and other people's limitations you will wield much personal power.
PLUTO IN LEO (1939 - 1957) It is important to note that Pluto
takes about 248 years to make a complete cycle, spending 12 to 32 years
in each sign. Therefore the interpretation of Pluto in its sign applies
to a generation rather than the individual. For a more individual interpretation
look at the house position. This is the generation of power. People of
this generation have the ability to use power both positively and negatively.
World power and leadership will also be important issues for these people.
PLUTO IN THE 3RD HOUSE You have a probing mind and are a powerful
communicator. You may experience power struggles with siblings.
ASPECTS OF PLUTO Pluto's aspects have already been discussed.
